The Kentucky Author Forum

welcomes

Jane Bryant Quinn

Tuesday, December 2, 1997

Louisville, Kentucky

Best-selling author and award-winning columnist, Jane Bryant Quinn, will be the next guest of the Kentucky Author Forum.

One of America's leading commentators on personal finance, Quinn will discuss her new book, “Making the Most of Your Money...Completely Revised and Updated for the 21st Century.” This new version of her classic 1991 financial planning guide is designed to help investors consider a wider menu of investment choices in a changing economy.

Quinn will visit UofL at 10am in the College of Business and Public Administration Auditorium for a free lecture, open only to the university community. Seating is first-come, first-served.

She will also speak at 6pm that evening at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in an interview format. Her interviewer will be Marshall Loeb, editor of the Columbia Journalism Review. Loeb was formerly managing editor of Fortune magazine, and writes a weekly “Your Money” syndicated column. Master of Ceremonies is Keith Runyon, opinion and book editor of The Courier-Journal.

Both Quinn and Loeb are recipients of the Gerald Loeb Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished business and financial journalism.

There will be a book sale and wine and cheese reception at the Ky. Center for the Arts preceeding the interview at 5pm, and Quinn will sign her books following the event. Tickets for the day's events are $15, available at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, 502-584-7777 and Hawley-Cooke Booksellers, 502-893-0133. (Discounted to $5 for UofL faculty, students, and staff. Discount tickets can only be purchased at KCA, and UofL identification is required.)

A dinner with Quinn and Loeb will follow the book signing, hosted by Dr. John Shumaker, president of the university. Package tickets to that event are $100 ($60 of which is tax-deductible, benefiting the Kentucky Author Forum).

The Louisville Free Public Library–St. Matthews/Eline Branch, 3940 Grandview Avenue, will carry a live broadcast of the interview. Tickets are free and may be picked up in advance at the library branch. The event will be recorded by WFPL 89.3 and KET for later broadcasting on both radio and TV (to be announced).

The Kentucky Author Forum series is produced by Mary Moss Greenbaum and sponsored by the University of Louisville, in honor of its Bicentennial Celebration.
