Katharine Graham, former publisher and current executive committee chair of The Washington Post, will be the next guest of the Kentucky Author Forum on Tuesday, March 25. Graham will discuss her autobiography, Personal History, the poignant and compelling story of her rise to command of the largest Fortune 500 company run by a woman. During the course of her tenure, Graham became known as a First Amendment icon and a symbol of journalistic integrity. It was under her leadership that the Post stood up to Richard Nixon by exposing the Watergate scandal.
Graham will be interviewed by Andrea Mitchell, NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent. Well known to many audiences as the NBC White House correspondent and as a political analyst on the Today show, Mitchell played a major role in reporting on the savings and loan bailout, the Keating Five, and the Clarence Thomas hearings.
A dinner honoring Graham and Mitchell, hosted by University of Louisville President Dr. John W. Shumaker and Mr. and Mrs. Barry Bingham, Jr., follows the book signing. Tickets are available for an additional $85 ($60 tax deductible). A package price of $100 includes all events plus dinner and can be purchased only through the Kentucky Center ticket office.
The Kentucky Author Forum is a non-profit cultural project in cooperation with the Kentucky Center for the Arts and Hawley-Cooke Booksellers.
